MADM is a network of people, often but not exclusively Christians, who are following Jesus' call to love our neighbour.
How we do this
MADM works with clients based on referrals made from statutory organisations like Social Services, Probation, Housing Associations, Community Wardens, Kent Police, and many more. We provide practical and emotional support, signposting to external partners and organisations, as well as providing varying volunteering opportunities. MADM picks up daily surplus food from local supermarkets, affording us to offer fresh fruit, vegetables and bakery which are gratefully received. Our charity shop on the High Street has the most incredible selection of preloved furniture, clothes, fancy dress, uniforms, electrical equipment, household goods, crockery and cutlery and much, much more.
Who we are
Making A Difference to Maidstone (MADM) supports individuals and families who find themselves in crisis through homelessness, domestic abuse, addiction, financial need, unemployment, relationship breakdown, and more.
The shop at 49 Church Street was our first permanent charity shop and office (now our Living Word Bookshop) followed by a second shop in the Mall, these were all consolidated into the old Argos building where the retail operations and storage facilities came together.
What we do
MADM helps the people of Maidstone to find freedom from suffering poverty, homelessness, addiction, social isolation, disadvantage, and crisis.
MADM believes this can be achieved through faith in Jesus and hope for the future.
The charity’s Christian ethos aims to bring hope and restoration to those in crisis through meeting their needs both directly and indirectly with bespoke support.
